History


1991

A programme aimed at promotion of environmental protection and enforcement of democracy in Central Europe called Environmental Partnership for Central Europe was created in Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland. National organisations only provide grants from US foundations and send people from non-profit NGOs to study tours to the US. The programme is supervised by German Marshall Fund from the US.


1993

First steps towards independence. The programme is split up into two separate, Czech and Slovak, programmes.


1995

Board is being established, first contacts with the private sector. Foundation’s logo is created, the foundation in the Czech Republic renamed – the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation.


1996

First specialised grant programme aimed at public landscaping launched in cooperation with PPS New York.


1997

Percentage of financing from US foundations fell to 50%. Floods in Moravia – the Foundation joins recovery plans together with Union for the Morava River.


1998

Registration of an independent Czech foundation with foundation assets of CZK 1 million in line with the new Foundation Act. The Foundation adopts the Greenways programme.


1999

First contribution from NIF to the foundation assets received (CZK 38.8 million). The Foundation engages in preparation of an environmental monthly called Divizna in the Czech TV.


2000

Agreement on gradual withdrawal of US foundations from the region. Tree of Life programme and public tree-planting collection created. Establishment of Moravske vinarske stezky (Moravian Wine Trails). Environmental monthly in Czech TV continues under the name of Pavucina.


2001

Being the first major donor, Ceska sporitelna becomes the general partner of Greenways programme. Partnerstvi, o.p.s. founded.


2002

Challenge grant from the Mott Foundation boosts the campaign aimed at raising foundation assets under the name Partnership for Nature. Nation-wide competition called the Tree of the Year and Czech bio food of the Year launched. Second contribution from NIF to top up the foundation assets received (CZK 19.7 million).


2003

A contract on DMS signed between mobile network operators and the CEPF. Launching cooperation with Toyota Europe and SEVER centre on programme Skoly pro udrzitelny zivot (Schools for sustainable development). Assisting with opening a Bulgarian foundation called Ekoobscnost.


2004

Merging with Endowment Fund of Josef and Petra Vavrousek. Together with Nadace Charty 77, CEPF launched cooperation on Josef Vavrousek’s Awards. Destructive windstorm in Tatra Mountains – CZK 14 million raised through public DMS fundraising collection Sbírka pro Tatry (Collection for Tatra Mountains). The CEPF becomes the most often cited Czech foundation in the Czech media.


2005

Skanska became the general partner of the Tree of Life programme. CEPF launches regional grant scheme called the Partnership for Kolín Region together with TPCA.


2006

The CEPF has a brand new visual image and a new head office. The Tree of Life grant scheme expands greatly. Third contribution from NIF to foundation assets received (CZK 2.5 million).
