Tree of Life

 Mission of the programme

The tree of Life is the grant and assistance programme of the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation. The mission of the Tree of Life programme is to help the non-governmental organizations, municipalities and other partners to create healthy and nice environment for everyday life. Especially by means of tree planting we motivate the broad public to get involved actively into carrying for countryside as well as community life.

 

 

Support

Tree of Life programme supports tree planting projects all over the Czech Republic by way of grants and assistance. We support also the more complicated projects dealing with the local heritage interpretation, preserving of biodiversity or brownfields regeneration. All parts of the projects, from ideas to their implementation, involve the local community.
The Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation assists projects not only with financial or material support in tree planting, but also offers help in formulating the project. We can provide assistance of specialists for community planning.
The Tree of Life programme prefers planting of autochthonous species. The actual tree planting is a public action. This is the most important part of every project. Being involved in the planting provides an environmental education for a wide public audience in a specific place. The most interesting projects are when trees are planted in little villages, where the planting is an important action in the life of the whole community.
In many of the places, one planting is enough to initiate a new tradition of planting trees. New groups especially for planting trees are born, sparking positive changes for the environment on a larger scale. 

Tree of the Year competition

By the Tree of the Year contest we want to draw attention to the value of trees for the environment. Through a simple and easy to understand symbol we try to lead people to pay more attention to the environment they live in.
Anybody (individual, school or for example municipality) could propose their favorite tree.
A jury composed of experts and famous persons chooses 12 finalists from all the proposals. The public determines further order of finalists from 1st August to 11th October by donation SMS messages, whose yield goes to tree planting
Every year on the Day of the trees 20th October is the winner presented and its proponents awarded at the Concert for the trees. The tree apart of the title also gets expert treatment. 

Tree Town project

Tree Town is contest, where each town can take a part. We are looking for town or city that will for one year turn its interest to trees. Tree town title and symbolic sceptre assumes the winner together with financial bonus on Arbour Day (20th October). The Tree campaign that runs in Tree town from October to October draw citizens attention to the value of trees for the environment. 

Tree adoptions

Adopt Tree of Life - the average amount which covers the planting and care of one plant is 300 CZK (10 Euros). By donating this money to Tree of Life collection you can adopt a tree for you, for your baby, relatives or friends. As thanks for support you will receive an original personal certificate with name and also the tree will be marked with your name. You can also join the planting. Your tree will be planted to Avenue of Nations that leads along Greenways Krakow-Moravia-Vienna. The trees will serve as a natural windbreak and an umbrella protecting cyclists, joggers, walkers and skaters from both sun and rain, as offer its fruit. The account for trees is:

Donor SMS

DMS STROM - the easiest way how to support tree planting is to send donation SMS. By sending a gift SMS in the form of DMS STROM at +420 87 777 you will donate 27 CZK to the planting of trees (the cost of an SMS is 30 CZK). DMS service is organized by Donors Forum.
Czech Environmental Partnership has made a great experience with DMS. Thanks to DMS we managed to collect more than 8 million crowns help for Tatra mountains damaged by gale in 2004.
